The Maison Franco-Japonaise is a Franco-Japanese research and cultural institution founded in 1924 in Tokyo, celebrating its centennial in 2024. It houses the French Institute for Research on Japan (IFRJ), which conducts humanities and social sciences research on modern and contemporary Japan and East Asia, and maintains the largest French-language public library in Japan with 54,000 volumes. The institute organizes seminars, conferences, and colloquia in cooperation with Japanese, French, and international universities, and publishes research findings through the peer-reviewed journal Ebisu.
